This project aims to further develop technologies that will facilitate the creation and use of a new generation of 'smart' books: e-books that are evolving, highly interactive, customisable, adaptable, intelligent, and furnished with a rich set of author and reader support services. We propose to build a set of tools and ultimately integrate them into a proof-of-concept intelligent framework for collaborative book authoring and reading called SmartBook.
